Latinos Progresando is hosted by Luis Gutierrez
For the third episode of Latinos Progresando (a Gozamos TV Podcast), LP sat down to talk with two Chicago comedians Joey Villagomez & Jaime de Leon who will be performing at Little Village Laugh Festival on April 4 2013. Latinos Progresando’s Associates Board and Mikey O Productions bring you Little Village’s first-ever comedy night at Kopa Kabana. All proceeds will benefit LP’s Dr. Angela Perez Miller Scholarship Fund.

Latinos Progresando’s very own Marcy Gonzalez was selected this month as one of La Raza’s 2012 “Mujeres Destacadas/Distinguished Women” for Community Leadership—an award given to a woman who exemplifies leadership in bringing awareness to issues that affect Latinos.
As part of La Raza’a celebration of International Women’s Month, Marcy was featured in a full-page article in the latest issue. Marcy will also be honored, along with the awardees in Business, Education, Arts & Culture, and Health, at a celebration on March 30th.

Latinos Progresando opened its doors on Jan. 15, 1998 in a small office in Pilsen. Before founding the organization, Executive Director Luis Gutierrez, states that he was unaware of how much people wanted to help others.
“I was just going about my day. What was important for me was going to work. I was an electrician at the time. It was very routine. I wasn’t really involved in any social justice work,” Gutierrez said.

Pintan, comen y se divierten para darle un mejor 'rostro' al barrio de Pilsen

Lo que inició como un grito de auxilio para salvar una pared pintarrajeada de grafitti en Pilsen, se está convirtiendo en "el mural de todos".
Esta obra, que registra la huella de la comunidad en Pilsen, es considerada "única" no sólo por sus llamativos colores, o porque los artistas están empleando diferentes técnicas para pintarlo, sino porque quién así lo desee puede participar y pintar.
