The service I received at Latinos Progresando has been the key to my success as a person. I went from being an undocumented immigrant, who used to clean houses for few bucks, to a bilingual Case Manager at a major U.S. nonprofit agency and am now earning a decent paycheck.

We Need You
Latinos Progresando was founded in 1998 with the broad goal of giving families access to the resources that are necessary to thrive. Since then, after years of refining our practices and expanding our programs, we have grown into the largest Latino-led, family-based immigration legal services provider in the state of Illinois. Latinos Progresando now serves thousands of immigrant families with the highest quality services—facilitating pathways to legal residency and helping grow a stronger, healthier community.
Looking back, we understand how important our work has been through our 18 years of service. Our clients have always appreciated our high-quality immigration work, which we offer at an affordable cost. But in the wake of the recent election, our work has taken on a new kind of importance.
Deferred Action (DACA) recipients and the counselors, principals, and teachers who work with them are concerned about their future in the United States. Families are considering whether their best option is to pack up and return to their home countries. Parents are saying that they can’t celebrate the holidays this year—they need to save money in case of a major raid or deportation proceedings. Before this election, families were coming to Latinos Progresando for information and resources, motivated by the desire to continue building a future in this country. Now, families are reaching out for a different reason, motivated by uncertainty, anxiety, and fear.
As our country faces an uncertain future, it is crucial for Latinos Progresando to stand with immigrants, as source of support and information. And for us to do this successfully, we need your help.
For those individuals who want to take a stand, we need your help. It is no longer enough to show your support from the sidelines—the president elect is assembling a team of people who have proven to be destructive to immigrant communities, to women, and to communities of color. It might seem that this does not impact you directly, but it does—how we react as a community, and as a country, says everything about the type of people we are, and the type of future we will create.
Latinos Progresando is reacting by reaffirming its commitment to providing high-quality information and resources to people who need them most. We will continue to offer open and reliable consultations, take on DACA cases, provide free services to victims of domestic abuse, and lead individuals to legal residency and citizenship.
The families receiving these services are the ones who will be most affected by the new presidential administration. Your donation, which you can make by filling in the donation insert, will serve to support these families and will begin to pave the way for a fairer, more inclusive future.
In recent memory, a change hasn’t been so badly needed. Now is the time for you to make a difference. This is not a typical calling, because this is not a typical time, and we cannot get through this with the typical people—we need everyone.
