Maria Gonzalez and Martha Razo, two undocumented students from Chicago universities, share their perspective on the “American Dream”. Through the use of performance art, they highlight the emotion of the immigrant narrative.
About Maria and Martha
Maria Gonzalez Undocumented Youth Organizer
A native of Mexico City, Maria migrated to the US with her parents and siblings at the age of eight. Maria earned her BS in Sociology from Illinois Institute of Technology and helped found several student and undocumented youth organizations.
Martha Razo IIT Student
Born in Michoacan, Martha grew up in Chicago’s Pilsen community. Martha devoted her young adulthood to using theatre as an advocacy tool, and raising scholarship funds for other undocumented students. Martha is currently studying Applied Mathematics at Illinois Institute of Technology.
