FAQ/Guidelines
Latinos Progresando
The Hispanic Center of Excellence (HCOE) in Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago invites qualified candidates to apply to the Medicina Scholars program for the 2012-2013 academic year.
The Medicina Scholars program was established in 2005 to assist, guide and support Latino college students interested in the medical profession. The program introduces students to the field of medicine by enhancing their knowledge on the role of health care professionals and the clinical aspects of medicine. The three-year curriculum gives Latino undergraduate and High School students a strong basis to succeed and become competitive for admissions to medical school. Students partake in a series of professional development/medical seminars that are geared towards expanding their familiarity with the health field.
Academic lectures include: Professionalism, History of Medicine, Public Health Policy, Grand Rounds in Primary Care and Specialized Care and Cultural Competence.
Applications are due on Wednesday, August 1, 2012.
