Family Services is a part of our Legal Services Program and focuses on helping families reunite through legal immigration.  This process typically begins with a consultation with our legal staff, which costs $30. Our office is open for walk-in consultations on Tuesday 9am-2pm, Wednesday and Thursday 9am-5pm, and Saturday 9am-1pm.

During a consultation, we explain the immigration process and advise clients about their options. Throughout the consultation, clients always have opportunities to ask questions and to talk with us about their individual concerns. We are committed to making sure that our clients feel empowered to make informed decisions about what is best for their specific situation and for their own families.

Beyond the initial consultation, we help guide our clients through the entire process of determining eligibility for various immigration benefits, collecting information and documents, submitting information to Immigration and Naturalization Services (USCIS and/or the National Visa Center), and completing administrative interviews.  In 2006-07, we provided more than 1,000 immigrants and their families with information and filing assistance.

If our clients need immigration services that Latinos Progresando does not provide in-house, we can refer them to other low-cost lawyers and organizations in Chicago. We have many strong relationships and formal partnerships with other organizations that make those referrals smooth and effective.
