The Sara Scholarship was established in 2012 as part of the final will of Sara Sheehan, who passed away in 2011. Sara was a true golfer who possessed a lifelong passion for the game. Whether in good or ill health, she played as much as she could – later in life managing only a few holes at a time.
Sara loved to practice and took countless lessons. She loved the sport because she believed that, aside from being fun, it taught important life skills and instilled character, especially the qualities of discipline and patience. In her thinking, not enough young women played or enjoyed golf. The Sara Scholarship, established in her memory, aims to support the life goals of the young women who do.
