The Tomorrow’s Heroes Today event is the platform from which Latinos Progresando announces the recipients of its Dr. Angela Perez-Miller Scholarship, promising young students with a commitment to community service. The 2012 event will also feature the inaugural Progresando Awards, presented to one organization and one individual for their respective contributions to the Latino community in Chicago.

With Kirkland & Ellis, LLP’s commitment to increasing access to high-quality legal services for those who need it most, Latinos Progresando has been able to support thousands of Chicago’s families, and families from around the world.

LP created a scholarship fund to promote educational attainment in the Latino and immigrant community, assist Latino and immigrant youth in covering the cost of obtaining a college education, and, ultimately, increase the number of Latino and immigrant college graduates. Scholarships are offered to graduating high-school seniors admitted to attend college or current college students enrolled in an accredited institution of higher education. Scholarship awards are $1,000 each and will be awarded for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Scholarship recipients are chosen based on academic standing, financial need and commitment to community service.
