May 25, 2023 marked the anniversary of George Floyd’s murder, and the civil unrest that followed was the inspiration for the Excellerator Fund.
The Excellerator Fund is a collaborative effort between our organizations–Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation and Latinos Progresando–to reimagine investment in Chicago’s Black and Mexican communities. This is an unprecedented effort, centered on trust, equity and unity.
Today we’re also proud to announce another $540,000 invested directly in Black and Mexican leaders across Chicago. Since launching, we’ve directed more than $1.5 million to more than 80 organizations, most with budgets under $500,000. Beyond that direct investment, we’re bringing people together, building bridges, strengthening leadership skills, sharing resources, and creating a supportive community.
We’re proud to welcome back and welcome in another group of extraordinary organizations to the Excellerator Fund family. Congratulations to you all, and thank you to our many supporters. Watch out for big things from this group, and from the Excellerator Fund.
